Yes. The Spear Head Hoe has a 60-inch fiberglass handle with two cushioned grips, sized so most gardeners can weed and cultivate a bed standing upright, with less bending and back strain.
Will the stainless steel head rust?
Yes. We added carbon to the stainless steel to increase durability, so it will develop a surface rust if exposed to rain or moisture for an extended period of time. To avoid this, simply store it in your shed or garage after use.
Does the hoe come sharpened?
Yes. The Spear Head Hoe arrives with sharpened side edges, ready to cut weeds and open soil out of the box. The head is stainless steel, which is softer than the carbon manganese steel in our spades, so if the edges pick up nicks from rocks or pebbles you can bring the edge right back yourself. Run a simple handheld knife sharpener or a metal file down either long side of the head, working away from your hand with the tool resting on a solid surface. Along the side with the flow-through windows, work carefully around the openings. Please wear garden gloves either way.
