If you already own Milwaukee M12 or DEWALT 20V batteries for your tools, the Milwaukee M12 Heated AXIS Vest and the DEWALT Heated Puffer Vest run on the same packs. For a heated jacket, get the Fieldsheer Mobile Warming Ranch Jacket, which Bob Vila named the best overall heated gear of 2026.
One number to know before you buy: the "10 hours" on most of these listings is the low setting. The same makers' own figures give you a quarter to a half of that on high, and the battery table below shows which is which.

- Fit: Field & Stream says to fit a heated vest a little snugger than a normal one, and Forbes says the Gobi Dune tends to run large.

How we chose these
We did not hands-on test these vests. We compared each pick's Amazon listing and, for six of the seven, its maker's product page, care page or manual (TIDEWE's site had no page for this vest, so its figures come from the listing) against what independent testers reported: Field & Stream, which ran each battery until it died at several settings, Outdoor Life, which checked its vests hourly and took their panel temperatures, Bob Vila, which timed nine vests on high, plus Pro Tool Reviews and Forbes.
Our rules: a full pick had to be in stock on Amazon on September 28, 2026, with a battery system its maker or listing describes. Where a tester's exact listing is gone or nearly sold out, we pick the same vest in another color or size, or its closest in-stock sibling, and say so. Two picks no tester has reviewed are here for one reason: they run on tool batteries you may already own. Of the vest roundups we read, only Forbes includes a tool-brand vest (a DEWALT fleece), and none includes a Milwaukee vest.

1. ORORO Lightweight Heated Vest (men's and women's): best heated vest overall
Check price (men's) | Check price (women's). Four carbon fiber heating zones sit at the collar, the mid-back and both hand pockets, on three heat settings and one button, under a water- and wind-resistant shell. The battery is a 7.38V 4800mAh pack (35.4Wh, the women's listing says) with a USB port for your phone. ORORO's own page gives 3 hours on high, 6 on medium and 10 on low, and says all four zones heat together on this classic model.
Why it is the pick: it is the vest the testers agree on. Field & Stream named it best overall and got about 3.5 hours on high, slightly more than advertised; Bob Vila named the men's vest best overall, got 6 hours of heat on high against the 3 ORORO claims, and liked the collar panel most. Bob Vila also made the women's cut its most versatile vest, warm enough on Low or Medium for dog walks and raking leaves, and Forbes chose it as its best overall. Bob Vila's 2026 heated gear test named this men's listing its best men's vest. The listing says the heating system is designed for 50+ machine wash cycles.
Where it loses: Bob Vila found the battery pocket slightly uncomfortable against the hip, and says ORORO's operating guide warns against wearing it in wet conditions while it heats. Forbes calls the regular fit slightly bulky. Heated pockets can get too warm for a phone (Bob Vila, women's cut). ORORO says to line dry it (see washing).
A note on Field & Stream's review: it links this vest (in XXL) with the same battery spec, though its text also describes 14 pockets with magnetic closures and small back pockets, which this listing does not mention.
2. Gobi Heat Dune Heated Vest (men's and women's): hottest in Outdoor Life's test
Check price (men's) | Check price (women's). Three heat zones across the chest and back, a wind- and water-resistant shell, and a 5000mAh battery that Gobi says doubles as a phone charger. Gobi rates it up to 10 hours on low, 8 on medium and 5 on high, with a pre-heat mode that starts on High and drops to Medium, and says it weighs under 2 pounds with the battery. Machine washable.
Why it is here: Outdoor Life made it best overall. On a cold, windy desert camping trip it outlasted the other vests on that trip, and in Outdoor Life's controlled battery test it was the only vest still lit at the four-hour check; its panel read 157.5 degrees F, 30 degrees above the next hottest. Forbes named it best for sports. Outdoor Life's link, a medium in Onyx, showed one left on September 28, so ours are the same vest in Navy (men's) and White (women's); pick the size you need on the listing.
Where it loses: no collar heating and no Bluetooth (Outdoor Life), unheated pockets and fewer zones than many vests (Forbes). It did not reach the six hours on high that was claimed when Outdoor Life tested it; Gobi's page now says 5. Forbes says it tends to run large.
3. Venustas Men's Heated Vest, Up to 20 Hours: longest stated runtime
Check price. The vest for sitting still, under a coat: a tree stand, a sideline, an ice-fishing hole. Six heating zones (both shoulders, mid-back, both pockets and the collar) run off a 74Wh battery, 10,000mAh at 7.4V, the largest watt-hour rating stated for any vest on this page. Venustas gives 20 hours on low, 12 on medium and 6 on high, the longest runtime stated for any vest here. The listing says it follows the design of Venustas' classic men's quilted vest.
Outdoor Life reviewed Venustas' upgraded quilted vest, a listing that no longer returns, and it stayed on for over 5 hours on high; the reviewer calls it ideal for stationary winter activities.
Where it loses: Outdoor Life's cons are a large, heavy battery and no Bluetooth, and it calls the battery impractical for backpacking or long hikes. The 35W charger is not included. It is a men's cut: for women who sit still, the Gobi Dune (pick 2), which comes in a women's cut, ran hottest in Outdoor Life's test, and the Venustas women's vest carries a 36Wh battery, about half this one.
4. Milwaukee M12 Heated AXIS Vest: best if you own M12 batteries
Check price. If your drill or other tools live on M12 packs, this vest takes them: Milwaukee's page lists it as compatible with all M12 batteries and Milwaukee's M12 Heated Gear Power Source, and names no M18 packs, so plan on M12. Milwaukee lists two heat zones (chest and back) with High, Medium and Low for each, its Hexon heating elements, AXIS ripstop polyester with a DWR finish, 2X more insulation, and a zippered pass-through pocket so the battery rides front or back. Milwaukee says it is washer and dryer safe. The Amazon listing does not give it a men's or women's label; Milwaukee lists a women's M12 AXIS vest separately, with two left on September 28.
Is a battery in the box? Plan on no. The Amazon title reads "M12 Heated AXIS Vest" with no mention of a kit or battery, unlike the DEWALT, Toughshell and Bosch kit titles, and Milwaukee's page for the bare vest says the battery is sold separately. So it arrives without a battery unless the listing option you pick says kit. Buying it as a gift? Only for someone who already owns M12 packs.
No tester we read reviewed this vest. They backed its siblings: Pro Tool Reviews' top heated jacket is Milwaukee's Toughshell, whose battery it notes is compatible with all M12 tools, and Bob Vila's 2026 test found Milwaukee's women's M12 AXIS jacket heated up faster than any jacket it tried.
Where it loses: Milwaukee's own figure, 8 hours on low and 2 on high, is the shortest stated for any pick, and it does not say which M12 battery it measured with. Pro Tool Reviews warns that a tool battery against your back is uncomfortable if you sit all day, and Bob Vila found the M12 pack on the bulky side.
5. DEWALT Heated Puffer Vest Kit: best if you own DEWALT 20V batteries
Check price. A men's vest; DEWALT also lists a women's lightweight puffer vest kit (three left on September 28). The DCHV095 runs on a DEWALT 20V battery with three heat settings, and DEWALT's page says the kit includes the vest, a battery, a charger and an adapter, so it also adds a spare pack to a 20V tool collection. The quilted polyester shell resists wind and repels water, the pockets are waterproof and zippered, and it zips into DEWALT's DRW21-3 rain jacket to make a high-visibility heated layer for a job site.
No tester has reviewed this vest. It is here because, of the six tool platforms we searched on Amazon, DEWALT 20V and Milwaukee M12 are the two with a heated vest readily in stock today; Makita's shows four left per size, Bosch's ships in one to two months, and Ryobi and EGO returned none (see below).
Where it loses: DEWALT publishes no runtime, no heat zone count and no washing rule for it, the same gap Forbes found in DEWALT's heated fleece vest. The warranty is 90 days, against Milwaukee's one year on the AXIS vest. Older DEWALT heated jackets drew comments from ToolGuyd and ToolboxBuzz about a larger, bulkier battery and controller than Milwaukee's or Bosch's; both reviews date from 2013.
6. TIDEWE Heated Vest (men's and women's): best value, and a hunting pick

The camo listing is the one Field & Stream tested; TIDEWE also lists the men's vest in black. Four heating zones at the collar, mid-back and under both pockets, three settings shown by color (blue low, white medium, red high), and a 10000mAh power bank with two USB ports, so you can heat the vest and charge a phone at once. TIDEWE's listing rates it 10 hours on low, 5.5 on medium and 3 on high, and says it survives more than 50 machine washes.
Field & Stream made it its best vest for hunting: thin enough to layer under a heavier jacket, with a collar zone that cuts heat loss at the neck, and a battery its tester calls a plus for runtime.
Where it loses: Field & Stream's one con is noise: the polyester is a bit loud, so it may not suit hunting unless your shots are at longer range. TIDEWE now sells a double-sided fleece camo version whose listing says the fleece reduces movement noise; no tester has checked that. The listing suggests air drying.
7. Fieldsheer Mobile Warming Ranch Heated Jacket: best heated jacket
Check price. A men's canvas ranch jacket with heat: a hemp-based Smith & Rogue canvas shell with a DWR finish, high-pile lining and a hidden battery pocket. Fieldsheer's page lists four heating zones (two across the chest, two in the back), four heat settings from 90 to 135 degrees, and a 7.4V 4000mAh battery rated for 12 hours on low and 3 on high, with a USB port and a built-in flashlight. You can change the heat from the touch button or from your phone or smartwatch.
Bob Vila tested it and named it the best overall heated gear of 2026: tougher than traditional duck cotton, broken-in from day one, and, it says, the only jacket in its heated jackets guide with four settings and app control. Pro Tool Reviews recommends it as a job-site jacket that fits in just as well off the job. More on jackets below.
Where it loses: Pro Tool Reviews notes there is no women's-specific fit and that its batteries will not run your power tools. The pockets are not heated (Bob Vila). Bob Vila and Pro Tool Reviews count three heating zones; we use Fieldsheer's own figure of four.
Also considered: models that missed the list and why
Milwaukee M12 Toughshell Heated Jacket Kit (204B). The jacket Pro Tool Reviews ranks first and Forbes calls best for work. It missed because the Toughshell Pro Tool Reviews ranks first is Milwaukee's newest, Hexon-equipped model (Milwaukee's page lists it as the M100B), while the Toughshell on Amazon is the earlier 204B; on September 28 the only kit readily in stock was XL, and a kit in L showed one left.
ORORO Women's Classic Heated Jacket (and the men's). Four zones at the chest, collar and mid-back on the same 35.424Wh battery as pick 1, a detachable hood, and machine washable. Bob Vila chose both cuts from research, not testing (Forbes' best overall is a different, three-zone ORORO jacket). It missed a full slot because no tester we read wore this jacket, while pick 7 is a jacket a tester wore; it is the everyday jacket we name in the jacket section.
Gobi Heat Ibex Heated Workwear Vest. Field & Stream's best vest for work: 13 oz duck cotton, five heat zones, 9 hours of warmth and machine washable, from a maker whose runtimes its tester has found mostly accurate. It missed because the same tester lists the battery as a little small, and Gobi's Dune (pick 2) is the one that outlasted the other vests on Outdoor Life's camping trip.
Makita 18V LXT Heated Vest (DCV200). Takes Makita 18V LXT and Compact batteries on a belt-clip holder, with two core heat zones (shoulders and back), three settings and a USB port. It missed because Amazon showed four left in XL and four in XXL on September 28, and no tester has reviewed it. Makita's DCJ205 heated jacket (four left on September 28) claims up to 35 hours on low with a 6.0Ah battery.
Bosch 12V Max Heated Vest Kit. Two chest zones and a lower back zone, three heat levels, five pockets, a 12V Max 2.0Ah battery and power adapter in the kit, and washer and dryer safe, Bosch says. It missed because Amazon listed it as usually shipping in 1 to 2 months.
Weston Men's Heated Fleece Vest. Outdoor Life tested this listing: collar heating, fuzzy-lined pockets, USB-C charging, 126.5 degrees F at the panel. It missed because Outdoor Life says it lasts 3 hours on high, and on the same windy camping trip the Gobi Dune (pick 2) was the only vest still running after the others died; one of its testers also missed a lumbar panel.
Does it take the battery you already own? Milwaukee M12, DEWALT 20V, Makita, Bosch
If you own Milwaukee M12 or DEWALT 20V tools, your chargers and spare packs can heat a vest. Pro Tool Reviews puts it simply: a heated jacket on a power tool battery lets the same pack run your other tools; its caution is the battery's size and placement. ToolGuyd's advice in 2013 was that if you already own a platform, that should be the strongest factor in your choice. Everything else here uses the maker's own power bank, which also charges a phone.
How to read the computed column: we divided each maker's high-setting hours by its low-setting hours. The headline runtime on a listing is the low setting; on high, these makers' own figures give a quarter to a half of it. Tool batteries come in several sizes, so a Milwaukee, DEWALT, Makita or Bosch figure depends on the pack you put in; Makita's own claim is tied to a 6.0Ah battery.

How long does a heated vest battery last?
On high, most vests last about three hours: that is Outdoor Life's summary after its test, and Bob Vila says to expect two to three times longer on the lower settings. The tester results sit in the last column of the table above; ORORO's vest is the clearest case, rated 3 hours on high by ORORO, about 3.5 in Field & Stream's test and 6 in Bob Vila's.
Three things stretch a battery, all from the testers and makers above. Use medium: Field & Stream found it the best balance of heat and runtime on the ORORO. Turn off zones you do not need, which Pro Tool Reviews says extends runtime; the Milwaukee AXIS vest sets each zone separately. And unplug the battery when you take the vest off, because Outdoor Life says a connected battery slowly drains. Field & Stream adds that extreme cold can shorten battery life, and Outdoor Life notes most companies sell batteries separately, so you can carry a spare. Our pick is the Fieldsheer Mobile Warming Ranch Jacket (pick 7): Bob Vila's best overall in 2026 and a Pro Tool Reviews recommendation, with four heat settings and app control. The others worth your time:
- Best heated jacket for men: the Fieldsheer Ranch above if you want a canvas work jacket. For an everyday hooded jacket, the ORORO Men's Classic Heated Jacket, a water- and wind-resistant softshell rated up to 10 hours on low.
- Best heated jacket for women: the ORORO Women's Classic Heated Jacket, with a detachable hood and the same battery as pick 1. (Forbes' best overall is a different ORORO hooded jacket with three zones, not this one.) Bob Vila's tested women's pick for 2026 was Milwaukee's M12 AXIS quilted jacket, which it linked at Ace Hardware and The Home Depot.

What to look for in a heated jacket: Pro Tool Reviews says most modern heated jackets heat the back, chest and pockets, and that ideally you want separate controls for all three, or at least for the pockets apart from the body. Outdoor Life says a collar heating element warms it up fastest, and to pay attention to where the panels are and how large they are.
Vest or jacket? Outdoor Life says a vest is better for layering, since you can put more under and over it without overheating, while a jacket is usually worn alone or under a shell. Bob Vila says a vest has no sleeves and is no substitute for a coat in bitter cold, and that a jacket is often better for severe cold or long exposure. So: a vest to layer under a coat or to move in; a jacket when it is your outer layer in severe cold.
Best heated vest for women and for men: what changes
The best heated vest for women is the ORORO Lightweight in the women's cut, the same vest two testers named best overall. The heat does not change between cuts; the cut and sometimes the battery do. Picks 1, 2 and 6 come in both cuts on the same battery. Venustas' women's vest carries about half the battery of pick 3. Milwaukee makes a women's M12 AXIS vest and DEWALT a women's puffer vest kit (links under picks 4 and 5). Fieldsheer's Ranch jacket has no women's-specific fit, Pro Tool Reviews notes.
Whichever cut, fit it close. Field & Stream says a heated vest should fit slightly more snugly than a normal one, or you may not feel the elements, and Pro Tool Reviews says a loose fit leaves an air gap that does not heat you as well.
How to wash a heated vest or jacket (including Milwaukee)
Yes, you can machine wash every one of these whose maker publishes a care rule, with the battery out. How to wash a Milwaukee heated jacket, from Milwaukee's M12 heated jacket manual (204 and 224 series): remove the battery and controller, push the power cord into the battery pocket, zip every pocket and the front zipper, machine wash on a gentle cycle in warm water, and tumble dry on low. For the AXIS vest, Milwaukee's page says only that it is washer and dryer safe. The makers differ on the details:

- Do not use it on an infant, a child, a helpless person or anyone insensitive to heat, such as a person with poor blood circulation.
- If you have a medical condition that makes you sensitive to overheating, or use a personal medical device, ask the device maker or your physician whether it is appropriate.
- Heating elements are not meant to touch bare skin; shut the power off if you feel discomfort.
Two testers we link see less risk: Field & Stream says the voltage is far too low to be dangerous even if a vest gets soaked, and Bob Vila says there is no risk of being electrocuted. The makers' manuals are stricter, and we follow the manuals. Outdoor Life adds a practical warning for the backcountry: any battery device can fail, so layer as if the vest were not heated.

Outdoor Life says most vests die after about three hours on the highest setting, Bob Vila says a vest is no substitute for a coat in bitter cold, and testers found some batteries heavy or awkward against the hip.
