About this plant

Polly grows glossy, arrow-shaped leaves in a green so dark it looks almost black, with bold white veins and wavy, scalloped edges. It is a compact alocasia with a striking, sculptural look.

Give it bright, indirect light and keep it out of direct sun. Keep the soil lightly moist during spring and summer, and let it dry a little more in winter, when growth slows. It likes warmth and humidity, so avoid cold windows. Like many alocasias it may drop an older leaf as a new one opens, which is normal.

It stays a tidy size, around a foot or two tall, which makes it a good choice for a table or a bright shelf.

The ASPCA lists Alocasia as toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
