About this plant

The Norfolk Island pine grows soft, needled branches in neat, symmetrical tiers, so it looks like a miniature evergreen tree. It is not a true pine and the needles are soft to the touch, not prickly.

Many people bring one home at the holidays and decorate it with a few light ornaments, then keep it as a houseplant all year. Give it bright light; a little direct sun is welcome. Water when the top inch of soil is dry, and add humidity in winter, since dry heated air browns the needle tips. Turn it every week so it grows straight.

It grows slowly into a graceful indoor tree over many years. A living gift that outlasts the season.

The ASPCA lists the Norfolk Island pine (Araucaria heterophylla) as non-toxic to cats and dogs.

From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
