About this plant
A moth orchid in warm, sunny yellow, with rounded blooms lined up along arching spikes over broad, glossy leaves. It brings color to a room in the middle of winter, and the flowers can last for weeks.
Give it bright, indirect light, such as an east window. Water when the potting bark is nearly dry, usually about once a week, and let it drain completely. Wet roots are the main thing to avoid. It is comfortable at ordinary room temperatures.
After the flowers finish, trim the spike and keep the plant in good light; moth orchids rebloom with patience. Choose a single spike for a desk or a double spike for a fuller display. An easy, cheerful gift.
The ASPCA lists the moth orchid (Phalaenopsis) as non-toxic to cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
