About this plant

Silver ribbon fern, also called Cretan brake fern, has slender, arching fronds, and each leaflet carries a creamy white stripe down the middle. The look is light and airy, like ribbons spilling from the pot.

It handles low to bright, indirect light, and the stripes stay brightest with a little more light. Keep the soil evenly moist and never let it dry out completely, but do not leave it sitting in water. Humidity keeps the frond tips green, so it is happy in a bathroom or kitchen.

Choose a 3, 4 or 6 inch pot. An easy, graceful fern that pairs well with bolder leaves and brightens a shady shelf.

The ASPCA lists table ferns (Pteris) as non-toxic to cats and dogs.

From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
