About this plant
The dwarf umbrella tree grows glossy, oval leaflets arranged in a ring at the end of each stem, like the spokes of an open umbrella. It grows into a bushy, tree-like plant that fills a corner with fresh green.
Bright, indirect light keeps it compact and full; in low light it gets leggy and drops leaves. Water when the top inch or two of soil is dry and let it drain well. It is not fussy about humidity and handles ordinary room temperatures.
Prune the tips to keep it bushy or let it grow upright into a small indoor tree. It is also a popular plant for shaping as an indoor bonsai, so it suits the tinkerer in the family.
The ASPCA lists Schefflera as toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
