About this plant
Frydek grows long, arrow-shaped leaves with a soft, velvety surface in deep forest green, lit up by bold white veins. Up close the leaves look almost like fabric. It is a favorite among alocasia collectors.
Give it bright, indirect light, with no direct sun. Keep the soil lightly moist through spring and summer and let it dry a bit more in winter. It loves warmth and humidity and dislikes cold drafts. It may lose an older leaf as a new one unfurls; that is normal for an alocasia.
It grows upright to around 2 feet, so the leaves are held at eye level on a table or plant stand. A dramatic plant for a warm, bright room.
The ASPCA lists Alocasia as toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
