About this plant
The polka dot plant has soft green leaves splashed with bright spots of color. Choose pink, red or white, or a combo pot with a mix of colors. It is pure fun on a windowsill and a favorite with kids.
Bright, indirect light keeps the spots vivid; in low light the leaves turn greener and the stems stretch. Keep the soil lightly moist and do not let it dry out completely, or it will wilt, though it recovers quickly after a drink.
Pinch the stem tips every few weeks to keep it bushy and compact. It stays small, usually under a foot tall, and looks great grouped with other small plants or tucked into a terrarium.
The ASPCA lists the polka dot plant (Hypoestes phyllostachya) as non-toxic to cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
