About this plant
'Black Gold' is a classic upright snake plant with sword-shaped leaves in deep, flat green, each one outlined in a narrow band of yellow gold. The contrast is crisp and graphic, and it looks at home in modern and traditional rooms alike.
It is drought tolerant and copes with low light, though a brighter spot keeps the gold edge bright. Water only when the soil is dry all the way down, then let it drain. Soggy soil is the main thing to avoid.
Pick a 3 inch pot for a desk, a 4 inch for a shelf, or a 6 inch for a bigger statement. Snake plants are easy to multiply from leaf cuttings, so one plant can turn into several to share.
The ASPCA lists the snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata) as toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
