About this plant

Philodendron 'Congo Rojo' opens each new leaf in deep red to burgundy, then slowly matures it to dark green, all on reddish stems. With young and older leaves together, the plant always shows both colors.

It is self-heading, so it grows in an upright clump rather than vining. It tolerates lower light, though the red is richest in medium to bright, indirect light. Water when the top inch or two of soil is dry.

Choose a 4 or 6 inch pot, in a nursery pot or an eco pot. It is easy to keep and makes a bold, unusual gift for someone who already has the green classics.

The ASPCA lists Philodendron as toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.

From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
