About this plant
'Green California' is English ivy at its simplest: deep green, unvariegated leaves on full, fast growing vines. Without variegation to keep up, it handles lower light better than the colorful ivies, so it is a good choice for a room without a bright window.
It grows in low to bright, indirect light, a little faster with more light. Keep the soil lightly moist, never soggy, and water when the top of the soil starts to dry. Pinch or trim the stems now and then to keep it dense, and root the cuttings to make more plants.
Choose a 3, 4 or 6 inch pot. Let it trail from a shelf or hanging basket, or train it up a small support for a classic green look.
The ASPCA lists English ivy (Hedera helix) as toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
