About this plant
The bird's nest fern does not look like a typical fern. Instead of lacy fronds it grows wide, glossy, apple green leaves with wavy edges that unfurl from a central rosette, the nest that gives it its name.
It is happy in low to medium, indirect light and burns in direct sun. Keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy, and water around the edge of the pot rather than into the center, where standing water can cause rot. It enjoys humidity, so a bathroom or kitchen with a window suits it well.
It grows into a full, rounded plant and stays a manageable size, which makes it a fern that is easy indoors, even for beginners.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
