About this plant
Janet Craig grows glossy, deep green leaves that arch out from a sturdy upright stem. It has been a mainstay of offices and lobbies for decades because it looks lush in light that would starve most plants.
It is happy in low to medium, indirect light; keep it out of direct sun, which scorches the leaves. Water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry and let the pot drain. Brown tips usually come from fluoride or salts in tap water, so use filtered water if you can, and wipe the leaves to keep them shiny.
It grows slowly and stays upright, so it fits beside a desk, in a hallway or in a corner far from the window.
The ASPCA lists Janet Craig dracaena as toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
