About this plant
Blue star fern grows deeply lobed fronds with wavy edges in an unusual blue-green, a cool color that stands out among other houseplants. At the base, fuzzy rhizomes creep along the top of the soil like little furry feet.
It is one of the more forgiving ferns. It tolerates lower light and copes with ordinary indoor humidity better than most, though it still enjoys a bathroom or kitchen. Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy, and leave the rhizomes on the surface rather than burying them.
Choose a 3, 4 or 6 inch pot. A good fern for anyone who has struggled with fussier types, and it looks great on a shelf or plant stand.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
