About this plant
The lemon button fern is a compact cousin of the Boston fern, with upright fronds lined in small, round, bright green leaflets. It keeps a tidy shape and fits places a full size fern never could.
Medium, indirect light suits it; it tolerates lower light but dislikes direct sun. Keep the soil evenly moist and never let it dry out completely. It loves humidity, which makes it a natural for a bathroom or kitchen window, or a spot among other plants.
It usually stays around a foot tall, so it works on a shelf, a desk or in a large terrarium. Trim any brown fronds at the base to keep it fresh.
The ASPCA lists the lemon button fern (Nephrolepis cordifolia 'Duffii') as non-toxic to cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
