About this plant
This classic prayer plant has light green oval leaves marked with dark blotches either side of the midrib, a pattern often called rabbit's tracks. On young leaves the blotches start out brown and slowly turn deep green as the leaf ages. Each evening the leaves fold upward, then open again in the morning.
It is happy in low to medium, indirect light, which makes it a good choice for rooms without a bright window. Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy, and water when the top inch feels dry. Brown leaf tips usually mean dry air, so group it with other plants or use a pebble tray.
It comes in a 3, 4 or 6 inch pot, in a nursery pot or an eco pot. An easy, cheerful plant for a shelf, desk or bedside table.
The ASPCA lists the prayer plant (Maranta) as non-toxic to cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
