About this plant

The red prayer plant has deep green, velvety leaves with a pale feathered center and bright red veins running out to the edges like a herringbone. At night the leaves fold upward, and by morning they lie flat again.

Medium, indirect light keeps the colors rich; harsh sun bleaches them. Keep the soil evenly moist but never soggy, and add humidity if the air is dry. If the leaf edges brown, water with filtered or rain water.

It stays compact and spreading, around a foot tall, and its stems trail gently over the pot rim, so it is lovely on a table, a shelf or in a hanging pot. A colorful gift that is easy to place.
