About this plant
The heartleaf philodendron grows soft, glossy, heart-shaped leaves on long trailing stems. New leaves often open with a bronze blush before turning deep green. It has been a houseplant favorite for generations because it is so easy to please.
It is happy in low to medium, indirect light and keeps growing even away from a window. Water when the top inch of soil is dry; yellow leaves usually mean too much water, and curled ones mean too little. Pinch the tips to make it bushier, and root the cuttings in water.
Let it trail from a shelf or hanging basket, or give it a moss pole to climb. A reliable plant for beginners, offices and darker rooms.
The ASPCA lists heartleaf philodendron (Philodendron hederaceum) as toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
