About this plant
Philodendron gloriosum is grown for its leaves: large, heart-shaped and velvety, in deep green with pale, silvery white veins that stand out like stitching. Each new leaf unfurls slowly and is worth the wait.
It is a crawler rather than a climber. The thick stem creeps along the top of the soil and sends up one leaf at a time, so in time it wants a wide, shallow pot with room to travel. Give it medium to bright, indirect light and good humidity, and water when the top inch of soil is dry.
Choose a 4 or 6 inch pot. It grows slowly and steadily and suits a collector, or anyone ready to give one special plant a little extra attention.
The ASPCA lists Philodendron as toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
