About this plant
This snake plant grows round leaves instead of flat ones. Each spear rises straight up from the soil, striped in dark and lighter green, so a pot of them looks like a small bundle of living sculpture.
It grows slowly and asks for little. Low light is fine, and brighter light encourages new spears. Water sparingly, only once the soil is completely dry, and cut back further in winter. Good drainage keeps the base firm and healthy.
It comes in a 4 inch pot that fits a desk, a bookshelf or a narrow windowsill, and it pairs well with flat-leaved snake plants for contrast.
The ASPCA lists the snake plant as toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
