About this plant
This is the dark form of the ZZ plant. New stems open a fresh, bright green and deepen over the following weeks to a glossy purple black, so a mature plant shows both colors at once. It makes a striking contrast beside lighter foliage.
Care is the same as any ZZ. It tolerates low light and grows faster in bright, indirect light; avoid harsh direct sun. Water only when the soil is completely dry, which is usually every 2 to 4 weeks. The thick underground rhizomes hold water, so overwatering is the main risk.
It grows slowly and stays tidy, which makes it a good fit for a desk, a shelf or a darker room where most plants struggle.
From November to April, we recommend adding Winter Plant Shipping Protection (a heat pack) at checkout. Plants shipped in cold weather without it are not covered for cold damage.
